Just north of Bermagui, across the border into the Eurobodalla, the villages of Central Tilba and Tilba Tilba cluster at the foot of Gulaga (formerly Mount Dromedary). Central Tilba is a classified heritage village of timber buildings dating from the late 19th century, now filled with galleries, cafes and produce shops.
Central Tilba
- Wander the main street of heritage shops and cafes.
- Taste local cheese and other regional produce.
- Visit galleries and craft studios.
Gulaga
Gulaga is a sacred mountain to the Yuin people, part of Gulaga National Park, which is jointly managed with Aboriginal owners. A walking track climbs from Tilba Tilba through farmland and forest to the summit area. It is a steep full-day return walk; check NSW National Parks for track conditions and respect cultural requests about sites near the summit.

Getting there
Central Tilba is about 20 minutes north of Bermagui and around 1.5 hours from Merimbula. Combine it with the Blue Pool and Camel Rock for a full day.
Combining Tilba with the Sapphire Coast
A good loop from Bermagui runs north past Wallaga Lake and Camel Rock to Tilba Tilba and Central Tilba, then back the same way. Allow a half day for the village alone and a full day if you plan to walk on Gulaga. Weekdays are quieter than weekends and holidays, when the small main street gets busy. Many shops keep shorter hours outside peak season, so check ahead if you are visiting a particular business.
